Introduction
Guy VOYER, DO is a “classically-trained” European Osteopath, from Marseilles, France, who remains true to his manual medicine training. In addition to holding a Doctorate in Osteopathy, Dr. VOYER has degrees in medicine and sports medicine, physical therapy and physical education, traumatology and biomechanics, as well as advanced degrees in human performance and educational science. He has initiated and collaborated on numerous research projects, including the studies on intervertebral disc compression and herniation.
Guy VOYER was formerly a competitive athlete in many sports, particularly judo, becoming so skilled that in his early twenties he became the world champion. With his experience as an athlete and understanding of the role that exercise plays in both physical and cognitive development, Dr. VOYER’s approach to therapy and treatments combines the necessity of a comprehensive exercise program to effectively correct or heal any injury.
Medical Practitioner and the “Cure For Back Pain”-
While working as a physiotherapist Dr. VOYER continued his studies, focusing on other specialisations including sports medicine, traumatology, psychological medicine, physical medicine, and manual therapy. Upon completion of his medical degree in France, and hungry for more knowledge, he completed five separate osteopathic programs, earning a Doctorate in Osteopathy (DO). During this time, back pain was a very popular topic and Dr. VOYER wanted to find the “magic bullet” cure to back pain.
Dr. VOYER was one of the first medical doctors to map and organise the fascial chains of the body, and to define the role the fascia plays in movement and human biomechanics. As a result of his work, Dr. VOYER organised his own system of therapy with many techniques that he created himself. Additionally, Dr. VOYER designed an exercise training program, which includes the ELDOA™ and Myo-fascial stretching, to support his treatment, and that respects the organisation of the fascial chains and the principles of human biomechanics.
VOYER EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Today, he is one of the few Osteopaths in the world who has mastered treatment of fascia and how to prescribe exercise to reinforce these treatments. Highly sought after for his expert fascial therapy and training techniques, Dr. VOYER developed the ELDOA™ over 35 years ago and teaches the ELDOA™, Myofascial Stretching along with many other techniques as part of his Osteopath, Somatraining and new ELDOA™ Certification Programs.
